Pregnancy Ultrasound
FAQs - Lumeve Melbourne
-
Lumeve is not a medical diagnostic clinic - it’s a bonding experience studio.
We offer a warm, design-led environment where families can connect through light, sound, and presence - not just an image on a screen.
Our focus is on emotion and connection, creating a peaceful bonding experience inspired by the beauty of motherhood. -
Yes. When performed by a qualify sonographer using recommended settings, ultrasound is widely considered safe.
At Lumeve, we follow ALARA safety principles, meaning we keep exposure as low as reasonably possible while still capturing beautiful images. We carefully monitor output levels and ensure each session is appropriately timed.
Our environment is calm and unhurried, allowing you to enjoy a gentle bonding experience, while always keeping your baby’s wellbeing as our priority.
-
No.
Lumeve offers non-diagnostic, elective ultrasound experiences for bonding and keepsake purposes only. -
3D refers to still three-dimensional images, while 4D adds real-time movement.
“5D” is a commonly used industry term describing advanced real-time 3D and 4D rendering that appears clearer, softer and more lifelike. Different ultrasound systems achieve this level of detail using different proprietary technologies.
At Lumeve, we combine advanced iLive real-time rendering with the Lumeve Light System, a carefully designed lighting environment that supports calm, comfort and emotional presence. Together, these elements help create natural, lifelike images and a more meaningful bonding experience.
-
Every baby and every pregnancy is unique.
Image appearance can vary depending on factors such as your baby’s position, movement, and natural conditions on the day of your session.
Images shared online represent our overall style and approach, rather than a guaranteed outcome for every visit.
-
Image clarity is influenced by a combination of natural factors, including:
• your baby’s natural position and movement
• the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby
• the amount of time available during the session
• gentle scanning technique
• a calm, unhurried environmentTechnology plays a role, but it is only one part of the overall experience.
-
We’ll always do our best to encourage your baby to move gently – using light, sound, or position changes.
If the baby remains in a less visible position, we’re happy to offer a complimentary re-scan so you can still enjoy a complete keepsake experience.
-
We recommend scheduling your session between 25–32 weeks for the clearest, most detailed views of your baby’s features.
Earlier sessions are perfect for capturing tiny movements, while later ones are ideal for more defined facial expressions.
-
Most Lumeve experiences take approximately 15-40 minutes, depending on the experience selected.
Each session is gently paced to prioritise comfort, presence, and emotional connection rather than the clock.
-
No special preparation is required.
For scans under 10 weeks, drinking around 600 ml of water approximately one hour before your appointment may help with visibility. Please do so comfortably.
For all scans, if possible, you may wish to avoid fizzy drinks or foods that cause bloating shortly beforehand, as excess abdominal gas can sometimes affect image clarity. This is only a gentle suggestion, not a requirement.
From 10 weeks onwards, no additional preparation is needed. You are welcome to come as you are.
-
Absolutely.
Lumeve is designed as a shared experience. Partners, children, and loved ones are always welcome to join and celebrate this moment together.
